Platelet-rich plasma therapy or PRP therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on healing the body from within. This therapy differs from others as it focuses on healing the body with the use of platelets and plasma extracted from the patient.
Before beginning the treatment, blood is extracted from the patient and placed in a specialized machine that spins the blood to separate the plasma. The platelets will then be injected into the desired areas of the patient’s body. PRP is much less invasive than any type of surgery and can be done in an outpatient clinic.
PRP Therapy for Arthritis
Arthritis is a lifelong medical condition causing swelling and tenderness to various joints throughout the body making it difficult to move around due to pain and inflammation. Though medical treatment is available, it does not provide relief for everyone.
Symptoms of arthritis include:
- Pain in the back, neck, wrist, fingers, toes, and other joints
- Stiffness, tenderness, or swelling
- Difficulty walking
- A decreased range of motion
PRP therapy for arthritis promotes healing from within the body as it can be injected into specific areas of pain. It also allows healing in hard-to-reach areas like the tendons and ligaments surrounding the affected area.

PRP Therapy FAQ
Platelet-rich plasma injections are an alternative to medications or surgery to heal an injured area. Ideal candidates would be those who prefer a less invasive option to surgery or those who cannot undergo surgery or tolerate pain medication.
PRP therapy services start at $600 per session for 45 minutes.
The process involves repeated injections over a few weeks or months, based on what the client wants from the therapy.
Some side effects of PRP therapy might be soreness or bruising at the spot of injection.
A client should hydrate and eat prior to getting their blood drawn so they do not feel queasy during the process.
- Acute muscle tears and strains
- Chronic tendinopathies (tennis elbow, Achilles’ tendon, patellar tendon, and rotator cuff)
- Ligament injuries ( i.e. Medial or lateral collateral ligament-MCL/LCL)
- Osteoarthritis
- Facial rejuvenation,
- Hair loss (males and females)
The healing process is gradual and can take up to 8 weeks to see desired results. Most people see some improvement within 2-6 weeks. The procedure takes less than one hour and has minimal to no downtime.
Depending on the area treated, repeat treatments may be necessary to continue the desired effects. Joint injections may require 1-3 treatments to heal an injured area. Hair rejuvenation with PRP and ECM (extra cellular matrix) should be repeated yearly to continue new hair follicle growth. Facial rejuvenation procedures may require 1-3 treatments yearly, depending on the treatment.
