What is a PDO Thread Nose Lift?

Individuals who would like to make changes to the bridge of their nose or to their nasal tip, but want to avoid surgery, should consider having a polydioxanone nose thread lift (aka a PDO nose thread lift). A polydioxanone nose thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that healthcare professionals from Atlanta Mobile Aesthetics and IV Hydration Therapy utilize to make a variety of changes to a patient’s nose.

A Nose Thread Lift Can Provide Patients with a Variety of Changes

When a patient receives a nose thread lift via PDO threading, he or she can attain a higher, straighter, and better-defined nose. Thanks to polydioxanone thread (aka PDO thread), these aesthetic changes to the nose are possible without the need for surgery, implants, or dermal fillers.

What Makes Polydioxanone Threads Different?

The biocompatibility factor of polydioxanone thread causes it to dissolve slowly over time. It is this characteristic that makes polydioxanone thread so unique. Nonetheless, polydioxanone threads are nothing new; in fact, physicians and surgeons have been using PDO threads while performing a variety of medical procedures for years. Therefore, patients need not worry about the natural absorption process because it is completely safe.

What to Expect

The length of the PDO thread that the healthcare professionals from Atlanta Mobile Aesthetics and Wellness use to raise the bridge of a patient’s nose usually ranges anywhere from 3.8 cm to 5 cm. The number of PDO threads a patient receives to lift the bridge of his or her nose typically ranges from six to ten threads over time to achieve the desired look. Also, a follow-up every two to three months to add more as needed for final outcome.

Procedure Steps:

The PDO nose thread lift only takes from 15 to 30 minutes.

  1. This procedure begins with the healthcare professional taking various measurements and making a variety of markings on the patient’s nose. These markings indicate which areas of the nose need to change to provide the patient with the results he or she desires.
  2. Once the measurements and markings are complete, the patient’s nose is cleansed.
  3. After cleansing, the healthcare professional applies an antiseptic solution, which is followed by the application of a topical anesthetic cream.
  4. Once the anesthetic cream is applied, the patient receives an injection of local anesthesia, which is the same type of anesthesia that dentists use. This anesthesia numbs the treatment area.
  5. After the local anesthesia takes effect, the healthcare professional may use a tiny needle to create a very small opening above the bridge of the nose. If the healthcare professional uses this technique, a blunt cannula serves as the means for the insertion of the PDO threads. The healthcare professional gently inserts the polydioxanone threads via a cannula. After completing the insertion of the PDO threads, the cannula is removed. Another potential option is the insertion of polydioxanone threads through the nostrils and into the bridge of the nose. After inserting the thread just beneath the skin, the healthcare professional pulls it taut, which creates tension and lifts the tissue.
  6. When building up the bridge of the nose, the PDO threads are carefully stacked on top of the bridge, but beneath the skin.

As the PDO threads slowly dissolve, they encourage the body to create more collagen. This additional collagen enhances the contour of the patient’s nose even more.

What to Expect Following a Nose Lift with Polydioxanone Thread

Some patients experience dimpled or bunched-up-looking skin directly after their PDO thread nose lift. However, this issue should be mild and typically resolves itself within a week.

Since patients only receive topical and local anesthesia, they will not require a driver. Patients should expect to have some mild inflammation and bruising. However, these symptoms usually dissipate once the patient reaches the seven-day mark.

Patients can reduce inflammation quicker by sitting upright while sleeping for several days. In addition, patients must not tug, rub or massage the treatment area. Furthermore, patients must keep from making exaggerated facial movements during this time.

How Long Do the Results of a PDO Thread Nose Lift Last?

The results of a PDO thread lift can last up to two years. The good news is that once the polydioxanone threads dissolve, patients can contact Atlanta Mobile Aesthetics and IV Hydration Therapy to schedule another PDO thread nose lift.
