It can help treat the following:

  • Thinning lips
  • Shallow areas on the face
  • Dark circles under the eyes
  • Skin scarring
  • Static wrinkles

What are Dermal Fillers?

Injectable dermal fillers are used to help reduce the look and fine lines that can appear over time as we age. Dermal fillers are great for adding more volume to your skin to help give it more a youthful, supple appearance. There are many different factors that can affect an individual’s facial skin including exposure to the sun, genetics, and lifestyle.

Dermal fillers are great for helping to smooth skin, but it can also be used to plump up lips. These gel-like substances are injected into different areas of the lip that are identified by a professional. It is important to speak with your specialist about what you are looking to achieve with this to ensure they help decide which product to use, how much to use, and where the product should be injected.

They are a great way to help smooth lines, creases, and achieve other cosmetic goals without the need for time consuming, expensive, and invasive procedures.

Types of Dermal Fillers

There are many different FDA approved fillers available and they differ based on the kind of substance they are made from. Some of these popular substances include hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic, and polymethylmethacrylate.

Hyaluronic acid are made with a substance that is naturally found in your skin and is generally gel-like. These products last 6-12 months before the body begins to break them down.

Calcium hydroxylapatite are made with a substance that is also naturally occurring, found in human bones. This product is also gel-like and thicker than that of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which makes them last for about 12 months.

Poly-L-lactic acid are safe alternatives to other types of dermal fillers and work by helping your skin produce more of your natural collagen. These fillers can be good for plumping up deeper wrinkles and can last over 2 years.

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) are in the form of “microspheres” that are injected under the skin indefinitely. This helps to prevent support and can be used for acne scarring or smile lines. These also contain collagen.

With the number of dermal filler products available, you may find it overwhelming to decide about which is best for you. Speaking with your specialist at Atlanta Mobile Aesthetics and IV Hydration Therapy can help ensure the right product is used to help you achieve your cosmetic goals. Each product has a different texture, density, and injection depth, which means depending on the area, one product may be better suited for use over another. Your specialist will be able to help you discern this.

How Long Do They Last?

Results vary based on numerous things. Depending on your product type, it can range from a few months to indefinitely. To learn more about what product is best for you, discuss your cosmetic goals with your specialist at Atlanta Mobile Aesthetics and IV Hydration Therapy.

Dermal Fillers vs Botox

Both Botox and dermal fillers offer incredible benefits for individuals looking to achieve their cosmetic goals. One of the biggest differences between them is that Botox is best suited for wrinkles that appear when the skin moves. This can include smiling, laughing, or frowning. Dermal fillers are best suited for static wrinkles, which appear on your face even when you are not making any movements. Dermal fillers can also be used for help with plumping lips and reducing the effects of acne scarring.
